Taralga Wind Farm

Location: Taralga, NSW

icubed consulting, commissioned by Downer Utilities, undertook the role as the Civil and Structural Designer for the Balance of Plant Works at the Taralga Wind Farm. The Wind Farm, taken through its final stages of development by CWP Renewables, is located to the South-East of Taralga in the NSW Southern Tablelands.

The Project consists of 51 separate Vestas 1.8MW, 2.0MW and 3.0MW Wind Turbine Generators with a combined total capacity of 107MW of renewable energy. 107MW of renewable energy roughly equates to the electricity demand of 38,000 homes that would otherwise have generated approximately an additional 240,000 tonnes of CO2 annually. This large scale development is serviced by 30 kilometres of unsealed access track, over 7Ha of heavy duty crushed rock mobile crane lifting pads and an energy and area efficient switchyard. The switchyard is connected to the National Electricity Grid in Muralan by some 40km of Helicopter strung 132kV Over Head Line.

The Taralga Wind Farm makes up one of 5 Wind Farm Projects that icubed have worked on side by side with Downer to deliver over 800MW of renewable energy into the Australian Electricity market.
