Success at the Building Designers Association of Australia awards
‘Designing for the Future’ was the theme chosen for the recent Building Designers Association of Australia’s (BDAA) National Conference hosted by Brisbane. The conference spanned two days with over 180 members attending from around the country, culminating in the national awards dinner on the Saturday night.
The Brisbane chapter itself is in its inaugural year and has strong support from icubed consulting, with principal designer Chris Cooper as chairperson supported by building designer Sarah Greinke as secretary.
The national awards dinner held on the final evening of the conference saw Chris Cooper and Joshua Waye from the icubed team, take out the Industrial Buildings category with their design for Aus Organics Grain Mill at Greenmount. Aus Organics and Kialla Foods are organic food processors that committed to a new grain mill, refrigerated warehousing, bagging areas and associated office area to support their growth. The design work included the mill supply and major upgrades to power, septic, gas and refrigeration.
Chris commented ‘It was a pleasure working with AUS Organics and Kialla Pure Foods on this project. The challenge was to integrate the current facility whilst achieving a favourable new design. We are pleased to have provided this solution and look forward to working with the team for future developments.’
