Crudine Wind Farm

Location: Mudgee NSW

icubed consulting, working with Zenviron, have successfully delivered the balance of plant civil works for the Crudine Ridge Wind Farm for CWP Renewables. The wind farm is located 45km South of Mudgee in New South Wales and consists of 37 3.8 MW GE turbines, with a 91.5 metre hub height, and a rotor diameter of 137 metres. The wind farm has a combined capacity of 134MW, enough to power over 55,000 households!

icubed undertook the design and documentation of the balance of plant civil works, which consisted of;

  • 37km of access tracks
  • 37 crane hardstands
  • Structural design of the 365 cubic metre reinforced concrete footings that support the turbines
  • Civil design for the operations and maintenance facility, and;
  • Construction certification for the oil store shed.

Crudine Ridge provided some challenges in design including areas of very steep topography, access through tightly constrained public roads, dispersive soils that required additional erosion and sediment controls, and areas of very hard rock. The geology of the site allowed for pavement material to be produced and processed, minimising the need to import material from external sources.

icubed and Zenviron have an extensive history of delivering successful wind farm projects throughout New South Wales and Victoria. Crudine Ridge was the second project delivered by icubed and Zenviron for developer CWP renewables, following Sapphire Wind Farm in northern New South Wales.
