Location Pinkenba, QLD
On the basis of our long-standing relationship with Wagners, icubed asked to facilitate the approvals for this multi-faceted project of a new Cement Grinding Facility in the Port of Brisbane Corporation.
The plant required a number of structures including the Mill, Silos, Office, Storage Bunkers and Wharf. With a site adjacent to the Brisbane River and on Bulwer Island (being a marine environment) ground settlement was a major issue and preloading design and monitoring was undertaken as part of the earthworks.
The site stormwater system incorporated large sediment holding points with no underground stormwater drainage as a measure to mitigate the effects of site settlement.
Approvals required for the project ranged from the Port of Brisbane MCU, CASA for building heights, DEHP for dredging, Fisheries for habitats and dredging requirements, Maritime Safety for wharf operations along with the Fire Brigade for fire engineering and site safety.
Also required through the application was community consultation with Pinkenba Rate Payers Assoc. and the local indigenous community, the Jaggera Darren tribe. icubed successfully managed and coordinated the various approvals across these wide ranging regulatory and interested bodies.
The project involved the use of imported buildings and prefabricated buildings to facilitate rapid construction time. The project wharf is still to be constructed and icubed are working with Wagners on the final design and approvals for this element.
