The first wind turbine at Murra Warra Wind Farm has been erected. This marks a major milestone for stage 1 of the project, which will consist of 61 turbines at the time of completion. The tower stands with a tip height of 211m at the highest point – the tallest wind turbine in the Southern Hemisphere at the time of construction.
The construction of Stage 1 of the Murra Warra Wind Farm, situation approximately 30km north of Horsham in Victoria, has been making excellent progress. Downer and Senvion have partnered together as a consortium to deliver the project. All access tracks and hardstands throughout the site have been completed and the concrete pours for the turbine foundations are nearing completion.
icubed has played a major role in the project, being responsible for the design of the turbine foundations and the site civil works. With a turbine hub height of 137m, this is the largest foundation design completed by the icubed team. 595m3 of concrete and over 70 tonnes of steel form the foundation for the towers.
icubed have provided Downer with on-site support throughout the construction of foundations and associated access tracks and hardstands. Our engineers are helping to monitor the installation of steel for the foundations, as well as the overall construction process.
