Hitachi’s Remanufacturing Facility kicks off in WA

Sarah Greinke – Heather Anderson

With construction kicking off for the new Hitachi Remanufacturing facility in Perth, we chat to icubed Building Designer and Site Representative Sarah Greinke and Project Manager Heather Anderson about leading the project through construction.

Heather:This facility forms Stage 2 of a 3 stage build at the Forrestdale West site in Western Australia for Hitachi Construction Machinery Australia (HCMA).  Acting for and on behalf of HCMA Pty Ltd, icubed consulting are seeing the project through development, design and construction.

The facility will feature extensive reticulated services including oil, air and waste oil, fabrication bays, soda blasting and paint booths.  The superstructure has been designed to take the 22 cranes (yes, 22!) required for the facility, which once operational, will refurbish Hitachi rotable componentsThe refurbishment process significantly reduces replacement costs to end users by taking a used rotable component, cleaning, inspecting and rebuilding to as new specifications and OEM standards”

Sarah:The building is the second Remanufacturing facility icubed have designed for HCMA. The Perth building design is based on their existing Brisbane facility with improvements made to increase efficiencies. The number of cranes has increased for better productivity and there are new oil reticulation services.

I’m really looking forward to being based on site for the duration of the project as I get the unique opportunity to see this project progress from the design and documentation stage through build, installation of the equipment and then commissioning. Being onsite allows a quick turnaround of any queries, keeping the selected contractor ADCO progressing towards our mid 2019 completion target and our client happy.”
